The product is an active magnetic buzzer with a solid plastic coat on the bottom. It is slightly taller than a passive buzzer. All it needs to sound is an external DC voltage (batteries or USB from Arduino) An active buzzer has an oscillating source built into it, so when it is energised, it will buzz. can be turned on or off to produce different sounds. A 100 resistor can be used with it, but it's not required.
