Pins Definition:

Pin Number Name Type Description
1 5V in Input (DC4.2V - 6V)
2 GND - Signal ground. Connected to power ground
3 TXD out Data output TTL logical level
4 RXD in Data input TTL logical level
5 Touch out Finger detection signal (max output current: 50mA)
6 3.3V in Finger detection power (DC3.3V-5V, about 5uA)

Hardware Connection:

  • Via the serial interface, the module may communicate with an MCU of 3.3V or 5V power.
  • TXD (pin 3 of P1) connects with RXD (receiving pin of MCU).
  • RXD (pin 4 of P1) connects with TXD (transferring pin of MCU).
  • For RS-232 mode on the PC, a level-converting circuit like MAX232 is required between the module and PC.

How It Works:

  • Fingerprint processing involves two parts: enrollment and matching (1:1 or 1:N).
  • During enrollment, the user enters the finger twice, and the system generates a template stored in the library.
  • During matching, the user enters the finger, and the system compares it with templates in the library.
  • The system returns success or failure based on the matching result.
