Pinout:

Num. Pin Description
1 Finger detection power + - This pin provides power in the range of 3.6-5V for finger detection.
2 Finger detection signal output - This pin outputs the finger detection signal, with the standard output being active high.
3 Power supply + - This pin is the positive terminal of the power supply, providing +5V power.
4 Transmit (TX) - This pin is used for transmitting data (TX) to another device.
5 Receive (RX) - This pin is used for receiving data (RX) from another device.
6 Power supply - - This pin is the negative terminal of the power supply. It is the ground (GND) connection.

How the Module Works:

  • The module processes fingerprint data through registration and matching phases. During registration, fingerprint images are captured and stored as templates. In matching, the module compares captured fingerprint images with stored templates to authenticate users. The result is provided as a pass or fail indication.
  • The module interfaces via a serial communication interface and can be directly connected to a 3.3V or 5V microcontroller. The data transmission pin (TX) of the module (Pin 4) should be connected to the data receiver (RXD) pin of the host microcontroller. Similarly, the data receiving pin (RX) of the module (Pin 5) should be connected to the data transmission (TXD) pin of the microcontroller.
  • For communication with a host computer operating at RS-232 level (e.g., PC), a level-shifting circuit (e.g., MAX232 circuit) needs to be added between the module and the host computer.
  • Serial Protocol: The module utilizes half-duplex asynchronous serial communication. By default, the baud rate is set to 57600bps and can be adjusted using commands within the range of 9600 to 115200bps. The transmitted frame format consists of 10 bits, including a start bit, 8 data bits (LSB first), and a stop bit, without parity.
  • Power-Up Delay Time: upon power-up, the module requires approximately 200ms to initialize. During this initialization period, the module is unable to respond to host commands.
